What are "lesions" a reference to? What causes them? Is there anything similar today?
In the book Feed, people start getting lesions because of the feed. As good as they think the feed is, it's slowly causing their body to malfunction and causing these small soars that pretty much make it so you can see inside the person. In the beginning when people got them, they were ashamed of them but after the stars of Oh Wow Thing got them they became cool and the latest trend. So people go out and get fake lesions put on to fit in. I guess it does relate to some of the things that happen today. Like riped jeans, it used to be if you had a hole in your jeans you wouldn't wear them because it made you look like you couldn't actually afford to buy a new pair of pants. But now that people have made it look cool, everyone goes out and spends a lot of money for a little hole in your pants. It is also like the shirts with the ripes in the front of them, i have no idea how that would have started, but now there is all these girls who think it actually looks cute, so again they spend their money for something you could have done yourself. In Feed, you would think that you would wanna hide the lesion, instead of getting ones implanted.
